Once known as the Sunset House, this home and garden were planned in 1939 with the input of 300 members of the Berkeley Women's City Club. The home was financed by Sunset Magazine in an effort to discover and build what Western women wanted in their homes.
The garden was redesigned by Sprig and thoroughly remodeled in 2016. Lawns were removed and replaced with native and low-water textural plantings. The garden is an artful composition of stacked stone benches, a bluestone path, patio, gravel sitting area and planted mounds. An extensive greywater catchment system was installed in the back garden and is integrated with the automatic irrigation system.
